PTSD – The Silent Enemy

A heightened awareness and understanding is growing around the realities of the psychological injury – PTSD. The infographic below demonstrates some shocking statistics.

The military are beginning to acknowledge the illness (or injury), yet still, it is often many years before service personnel seek or receive assistance; numbers are sadly increasing for those ending their lives, rather than – or despite seeking help.

It is worth reminding ourselves that this phenomenon isn’t restricted to military veterans. Anyone can suffer the insidious effects, including you and I, and commonly, other uniformed service providers such as 999 personnel – and those who witness ‘events outside that which is usually seen’.

If you think you may be suffering the effects of post traumatic stress, whoever you are or have been; or you suspect someone you know or love is suffering – please seek guidance to assist remove those unhelpful thoughts – and emotions.
