Penni Osborn

It is not necessary to struggle with the symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression, CEN or low self-esteem. Help is available! Combining decades of life experience with robust counselling and therapy skills, I am someone who is able to listen deeply and truly understand, without judgement, how life looks and feels for you right now.

Working together, we can rediscover your inner resources and resilience (yes, you have both!). We can shine a light on that which is needed to achieve long lasting change, self-awareness and self-empowerment, in order to live a life rich with meaning, purpose and contentment.

The best decision I have ever made for myself was walking into Penni’s room and starting the process of changing my life…

As someone who has experienced anxiety, I know just how much it can get in the way of every day life. Combining deep relaxation techniques with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) creates an effective approach to managing and overcoming the symptoms of anxiety. CBT encourages us to look at possibly unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and work towards altering these into something more realistic and nourishing. Counselling – a more ‘talking’ based therapy, as well as simply understanding exactly what anxiety is and how is can be triggered, can also go a long way towards relieving the symptoms of anxiety.

We all get down sometimes, after all, life can be tough. But when we stay down and find it hard to motivate ourselves, or withdraw from things we usually enjoy, this could be a sign that we are suffering the symptoms of depression. There are many possible reasons for a depressed mood; a loss of some kind, relationship breakdown, unexpected life changes or past hurts that have yet to be resolved – to name just a few. I find that an integrative approach which may include CBT, Counselling and Mindfulness practice, can work very well for the long term relief of the symptoms of depression.

CEN (Childhood Emotional Neglect) is the result of a child’s emotional needs not being recognised enough. This concept, discovered by Dr Jonice Webb Phd, is not physical abuse or neglect. It is the failure of often well meaning parents or caregivers to notice and validate a child’s emotional experiences sufficiently for that individual child. CEN is often non-verbal and seemingly invisible, making it difficult for adults who experienced emotional neglect in childhood to understand why they feel the way they do. As a qualified CEN therapist I work with clients, in adulthood, to overcome the effects of CEN. Recovery is possible – a whole new world rich with emotions and the inner guidance they offer is available for those who seek to heal.

Who do I work with?

I offer confidential, warm and friendly support to adults (over 18 years) who are seeking help with anxiety, stress, depression, low self esteem, and CEN (Childhood Emotional Neglect). Working organically and as a collaboration, each session is tailored to meet each individual client’s needs. Counselling and/or therapy is an investment in you and as such, I always strive to provide value and expertise and therefore a good return on your investment.
